To me, butterscotch is such a classic flavor; and it seems like you just don’t see it as often as you used to (granted it’s loaded with sugar). That’s why we were thrilled to find this recipe for Old English butterscotch from 1934. For this recipe, you’ll need:

  • about 2 cups of raw sugar
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • a pinch of cream of tartar
  • 4 oz of butter
  • 4 tbsp of cream
