We LOVE New Lucy, But Wait Until You See Scary Lucy!

The folks who live in Lucille Ball’s hometown of Celoron, New York are proud of their connection to one of the nation’s most well-known and hysterical comediennes. In 2009, the city decided to memorialize Ball by erecting a bronze statue in her image for the Lucille Ball Memorial Park. Things did not go as planned and the statue (based on the “Lucy Does a TV Commercial” episode of I Love Lucy), turned out to be a less-than-perfect likeness of the famous actress. The original artist, Dave Poulin, says that the statue does not reflect “Lucy’s beauty or my ability as a sculptor.” The statue was quickly named “Ugly Lucy.” Celoron officials recently sought out a new sculptor to create a new statue that would better personify Ball and found Carolyn Palmer. “New Lucy” is such an amazing figure and really captures her style and poise.
