102-Year-Old Dancer Sees Herself On Film For The First Time. Her Reaction Is So Sweet!

102-year-old Alice Barker was strutting her stuff on stage all throughout the 30’s and 40’s as a dancer. She was vivacious, talented and beautiful. However, she’d never seen herself perform. With the help of David Shuff and Mark Cantor of Jazz on Film, she was finally able to do so!

Once they shuffled through many old films, they finally found those featuring Alice, brought them to the nursing home where she lives and showed them to her. Alice loved her career as a dancer and it was such a joy to be able to relive those memories.

“I remember thinking, ‘I am getting paid to do something that I enjoy doing, and I would do it for free!’ Because it just felt so good doing it,” Barker said.

She also told the story about how she got her nickname, “Chicken Little.” Barker said whenever they would go out to eat, she would only ever eat chicken! She laughed at the memory and told more stories as they came to mind. It seemed the longer she watched the videos, the more of her memory she regained!

Here’s our takeaway: Don’t take advantage of what you’re doing today, hold it as a dear memory and cherish every moment!
