When It Comes To Doo-Wop, It Doesn’t Get Much Better Than This 1958 Classic

What is it about Doo-Wop songs that bring us back to a time of innocence? Throughout the years there have been several great acts that we remember fondly, such as The Five Satins, The Platters, and The Drifters. One group that we had completely forgotten about, however, also happens to be one of the best; of course we’re talking about Little Anthony and the Imperials! They’re probably best known for their 1958 crossover hit “Tears On My Pillow,” and for good reason. Listen to their performance of it from 1960 episode of Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show, and you’ll see why we loved them so much. Lead singer Jerome Anthony Gourdine’s voice was so unique and distinct, just fit the song perfectly. It’s also fun to see Dick Clark’s trademark banter before and after the performance. So, without further delay, check out the video below and enjoy this slice of Doo-Wop history. And if you’re look for more great musical memories, look no further than this stellar performance of the classic “In The Still Of The Night.”
