When This Group Of Dancers Take The Stage In 1964, One In Particular Steals The Show!

In this episode of The Judy Garland Show from 1964, a group of six dancers perform their interpretation of a dance called “The Nitty Gritty.” From the moment the performance begins, one dancer in particular stands out thanks to his enthusiasm and talent. That dancer, who’s name is Robert “Bobby” Banas, actually had quite the career! Apart from stealing the show in this number, he also appeared in the film adaptation of West Side Story and got to kiss the lovely Marilyn Monroe in the film Let’s Make Love. Banas also played an uncredited chimney sweep in Mary Poppins. Check out the clip below featuring the classic Shirley Ellis song that the dance was named for. And, enjoy this amazing throwback performance that will have you tapping your toes and smiling from ear to ear all day.
