If you wondered how clothing and costumes for films are chosen, you are in very good company. On the 1950s television show You Asked For It, Art Baker delves into these and other questions with the legendary Hollywood costumer, Edith Head. The main focus of this segment is the film, Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn. Of course, her clothing in the film became synonymous with elegant fashion and so it was only natural that this particular film was the focus. Head discusses the process of approval for costumes. And, in some rare footage we see Audrey Hepburn in the screen tests for Roman Holiday, one in which she emotionally discusses where she lived in World War II and how she came to dance. This is a rare treat for fans of the film, of Audrey Hepburn, and of Edith Head. Have a look below at this wonderful footage. And, you can see Hepburn before she was famous here.
